Yokosuka and the Downpour

CJ and I went to Yokosuka on Tuesday. We spent the afternoon walking around the Daiei (dye-aye), which is a huge mall by the train station, and ate some sushi (my first!). Later that evening we met up with the rest of our staff on the Yokosuka base for a briefing about climbing Mt. Fuji, which we're doing on August 7th.

These were some photos we took on the boardwalk by the Daiei. Not quite sure who or what they are:

Koi fish outside a pet shop. Not nearly as big as the ones in the pond by the barracks.

Lobster

Cute Chihuahua puppies. These are one of the most popular dogs in Japan.

We went into a supermarket, and they had displays of animals made out of hot dogs. These are otters and penguins.

These ones are elephants, pigs, monkeys and penguins.

Kraft American cheese...

I'm gonna miss Japan when I can't get mango everywhere. They sell mango juice!

Crazy ice-cream flavors...

Coolish! The only vanilla ice cream in a pouch...and it's so good!

I always love to try on the most ridiculous pair of sunglasses...

Anpanman getting some love from CJ!

My first sushi...tuna rolls, and it was delicious!

Water, miso soup and shrimp sushi...YUM!

Not sure what this sign was for, but apparently at the train station you can hula hoop on the left side.

So it rained...hard. We cheated and took a taxi from the train station instead of walking the 15 minutes. This is what we looked at after walking for 3 minutes from the main gate to the barracks.
