Way back in the day (like 125 years ago) Negishi was a horse track on top of a hill. I have an amazing view of what remains of the grandstands from my room. CJ and I went to the horse museum on the other side of the park, which talked about the history of the horse track and horses in general. It was pretty cool, but most of it was in Japanese. There was a mannequin in traditional samurai dress sitting on a stuffed horse, but I couldn't talk a picture of it. I did take some pictures in the area that they allow you to take pictures in, which talks about the history of the Negishi race track. Here's what I see out of my window every morning:
Here's a horse statue right outside the museum

The grandstand not long after it was first built. There's a section in the right side of the picture that isn't there anymore (as well as the canopy). Not quite sure what happened to them, but the area was damaged during WWII.
Japanese signs are really funny...not sure what this says, but apparently horses in Japan have stars in their eyes
One of the parks around Negishi. This one is on the back side of our barracks, while the grandstand and another park are on the front side.

Meletina and I went to Tokyo Disneyland yesterday, so watch out for an update of epic proportions in the next couple days.
