So sorry for not updating sooner. I've been teaching swimming lessons the past two weeks and it's been fairly busy. Last Saturday (June 26) we met up with a few other Camp Adventure sites at the Big Buddha in Kamakura. There are a ton of shines there, but the large Buddha is the most famous. There was originally a building around it, but an earthquake and flood knocked the building down.
Here's one of the small shopping roads on the way to the Buddha.

We asked someone for directions and he gave this to CJ (it's a grasshopper made out of grass).

Me in front of the Buddha when we first arrived.

Most of the WSU trainees in Japan.

A close up

What I call French-Asian fusion: a delicious chicken and Japanese curry sauce crepe.

One of the buildings at the Great Kannon shrine. We didn't acutally get to see the wooden Kannon statue because it was about an hour and a half wait, but the grounds were beautiful.

Another building

The ocean (if you look really close, you can see a bunch of windsurfers). It started raining just before we got to the shrine.

Another view of what I think is the main shrine building.
Delicious piece of chocolate cake.
Entrance to a big shopping street. They have shops that sell nothing but cell phone charms on just about every block.

CJ waiting to get her senbei. It's just like a rice cake, but it's smooth and dipped in some kind of fishy broth. They grill them up right and dip them right on the street.

Me and my senbei...surprisingly delicious!
